Old age Home | Karjat

The World Punjabi Organization wanted the place to be as accessible and senior-citizen friendly as possible! A design that caters to their needs is what we’ve tried to achieve with this design.

Some other features that add to the ease of usage of these spaces for the elderly include the use of anti-slipping flooring wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through conveniently; the curbs’ design is also adapted to access the roadway; all the functional zones are designed near each other for reducing the walkability; unique signage and symbolism system inside and outside of buildings; enough seats in all places for the people to take a pit-stop; bathrooms, lifts, ramps and accessible stairs connecting all areas. This old age home is well-built, keeping in mind the accessibility, safety, comfort and shelter for the inhabitants.

The materials used for the design of the structure are all earthy brick and concrete. This was done so as to blend the structure with the surrounding green areas and provide a cool and comforting atmosphere for the senior citizens.
