Subhash residency | Kalyan

The main design challenge for this project was the steep contours on the site. However, the natural subdivision of the plot by the Development Plan helps in segregation of the LIG and the EWS houses. This acted like the silver lining in the clouds for us. We tried to focus on communal spaces and increase the interaction between the different structures. Our design contains elements that help in accentuating social interaction - a brightly colored facade that distinguishes itself from its neighbors.

The building for the LIG section is a mixed-use composite structure and comprises commercial units on the lower floors. This double-loaded shop frontier not only increases the connection passage but also enhances the shopping experience. This vertical program of stores, offices, and apartments in this building is designed in reaction to the standardized simplification practiced by the real estate market. The service core for the commercial spaces is separate from the residential units above.

The interaction of various groups of society within the complex showcase the effort to unify the people and the deployment of inclusive design thinking. The shared amenities, workspaces, bars, and cafes foster interaction between the residents, encouraging people to be more socially collaborative.
