Water taxi | Mumbai

The idea for this competition project was to maximize the functional usage of the beach boundary. Designing the space for commercial usage of the beachfront was a challenge. The concept for this design focused on connecting the different parts of the city of Mumbai through waterways. A commercial hub was designed keeping this in mind. This commercial hub has an entry area with a booking counter and various shops and cafes.

This hub is connected to a walkway that leads to a floating deck and a watchtower. The floating deck acts as a water taxi stand for people to board from. It has boat parking on all sides for easier accessibility from the floating deck area. The watchtower helps in keeping an eye out for any discrepancies and disruptions in the weather or otherwise.
